Sunday Six: What I’m Loving This Week

Hey, y’all! I’m excited to start a new series called Sunday Six, where I’ll be sharing some of my favorite things from the week. I hope you find it fun and maybe even a little inspirational so let’s jump in!

1. Our Trip to Breckenridge Breckenridge has been a haven for our family for years now! This summer again was a blast, and we had the most amazing time hiking, golfing, kayaking and white water rafting. The mountain views are stunning, and the food! Oh my goodness, we ate our way through Breck. If you ever get a chance, it’s definitely worth making a trip, either for skiing or in the summer. I love skiing, but if you are looking for an adventure, summer is the way to go!

2. Lemon Bars I stumbled upon the easiest lemon bars mix, and let me tell you, they are perfect for summer. Crisp, sweet, and tangy – just the right treat for those hot afternoons. I’ve been whipping these up for family and friends, and they’ve been a huge hit!

3. Going to the Movies This weekend, we treated ourselves to a double feature at the movies – Deadpool and Twisters. Just FYI... Deadpool has a potty mouth and is definitely not for kids, but the wit is hilarious and the music is spot on! As for Twisters, it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It’s been a long time since I’ve recommended movies, and it’s so nice to watch good ones again.

4. Old Reba Songs I am completely in my Reba era right now. I’ve been belting out her old songs at the top of my lungs whenever I’m in the car by myself. It’s been such a blast revisiting these classics. If you’re on Spotify, check out my playlist called “The Old River Nest - Reba Era” and sing along with me! I have almost three hours of her classics ready to go.

5. This White Skirt from Walmart I found the cutest white skirt at Walmart, and I am living in it for the rest of summer and into fall. It’s adorable, comfy, and the perfect transition piece. Plus, it’s super affordable! I'll be sharing how to style it different ways tomorrow on IG @theoldrivernest.

6. Southern Dough Cafe in Katy, TX If you’re ever in Katy, TX, you have to visit the Southern Dough Cafe. The blue gingham booths alone are worth the trip, but the food is incredible too. They offer soups, salads, sandwiches, pies, and ice cream – all absolutely delicious. It’s located in Old Town Katy on the square, and it’s just the cutest spot for a meal or a sweet treat.

That’s it for this week’s Sunday Six! I hope you’re all doing well and getting geared up for the back-to-school season. We’ve started our school shopping – how about you?

I hope you have a peaceful Sunday evening and a blessed week.

Cheers,

amber :)
