Sunday Six: Catching Up from The Old River Nest

Hey y’all, I hope everyone is doing well and that the start of the school year has been smooth for you! Things have been moving fast, so I wanted to take a minute to catch up and share what’s been going on around here lately.

The Losing Streak is Over

Yes, you read that right—Caldwell ISD finally broke its long-standing losing streak! We’ve been ranked 6th or 8th (I can't remember) in the state for the longest streak without a win, but two weeks ago, we pulled off a victory against Crockett by one point. And it wasn’t just any game—it was pouring rain, everyone was soaked, and the stands were so loud ---- it was like out of a movie. That final moment was electric, and it’s something we’ll remember forever.

Homecoming is Next Week

Homecoming season means one thing in our house—posters, signs, and glitter everywhere. The boys have been all about their homecoming proposals, which had me way more stressed than I expected. If I’m this worked up about a “HOCO” poster, I can’t imagine how I’ll be when the boys are planning actual proposals one day. Y’all, I don't know if I'll be able to take it!

Caden's girl loves Crumbl cookies so we went with a Crumbl theme. Coop asked a friend that love Cane's so he surprised her with Cane's for lunch and his poster. This takes way or coordination than I expected. (winkk)

Walmart Fashion Finds

I’ve been on a serious Walmart kick lately, and I’m not ashamed to say it. They’ve really stepped up their game, and I’ve been finding some great quality pieces that are perfect for fall. I’m talking classic styles that remind me of J. Crew, but at a fraction of the price. I even found a pair of wide-leg jeans that are quickly becoming a wardrobe staple. If you’re looking to refresh your fall wardrobe, take a peek at my Like to Know It—I’ve been sharing my finds there.

Fall Décor (still in progress)

I’m still in the process of getting all my fall décor up, but I’ve been loving the change in season and those cooler mornings. I’ve also been hitting up some thrift stores lately and found a few great pieces I’m using for this season’s décor. I’ll be sharing what I found and how I styled it in a blog post later this week, so stay tuned! Here's a sneak peak of what I found.

Crockpot Dinner for Busy Nights

With practices, games, and meetings filling up our evenings, what to cook becomes an issue. I’ve got one easy recipe that we rely on when we know we won’t be home until late. You throw everything in before heading out, and when you get back, just make rice and green beans, and dinner’s ready. Plus, the leftovers are even better the next day—perfect for those busy school nights.

Caden’s Texas A&M Tour

A couple of weeks ago, Cam, Caden, and I toured Texas A&M, and it was both exciting and a little emotional. We learned all about the admissions process, visited the Mays Business School, and toured a few dorms. Caden has another tour coming up soon for the engineering program, and it’s starting to hit me that college is right around the corner. It’s such an exciting time, but wow, does it make you realize how fast things go.

That’s the latest from our neck of the woods. I hope everyone is enjoying the start of fall and settling into the school routine. Hopefully, after homecoming, things will slow down a bit... but knowing how life works, we’ll probably be off to the next thing before we know it.

Take care and talk soon,

amber :)
