Mudrooms are starting to make their way into many homes. A mudroom is a more casual, or secondary entrance to your home that is meant for the family to store their backpacks, jackets, shoes, etc. This room is another great storage space that keeps your family organized.
Five Tips to Make Your Mudroom Inviting
1. Lockers, Wall Hooks, or Hall Tree- A Zone Area for Everyone
Lockers, wall hooks, or a hall tree is a perfect designated place for each person in your family to store their everyday items. This not only keeps everyone organized, but it also makes life easier for Mom! These lockers from Wayfair give plenty of hideaway spaces that we can easily close, but it also provides two sets of hooks for backpacks, caps, purses, and jackets. If you have limited space in your mudroom, hooks on the wall serve the same purpose. Keep in mind that these lockers and hooks need to be placed by the back door, so it becomes an automatic routine that when you walk in the door you know where your things go.
2. Storage Cabinet
Not only does your mudroom need to be open, but also functional. We have always enjoyed the vintage feel, so we added an antique armoire. An antique has a history, and we want that story to be felt as guests enter. Do you have to have an antique? Not at all. There are buffets and tables
Greenery always brings a fresh feel to a home. When it comes to greenery, we like to use a nice tall vase along with a terra cotta vase to place our stems. Both of these in the picture are designs by Joanna Gaines from her target collection and Magnolia Market. We love having that hint of green in every room. If you are looking for a budget-friendly way to change up your mudroom from season to season, a wreath is a way to go. Wreaths are a great way to add color to your mudroom, and you can hand them anywhere from a faux mantle or on the door.
3. Wood Wall Signs or Wall Art
Don’t leave your walls empty! Your mudroom walls want to be decorated as well. Wall art is a wonderful way to bring character to this room. It also gives you another chance to show off a bit of your personality or give it a homey touch.

5. Seating Area
Chairs or a bench with an accent pillow gives your family and guests the welcome vibe to take their shoes off and head inside. Having a chair or bench is an ideal place for anyone to sit, tie shoes, or sort their belongings. This is just one more way to make your house functional and accommodating to anyone who enters or leaves the mudroom.
